The scheduled day program wasn't stuffed enough and so The Doctor got another of his ideas. Since we have a small number of Italian riders, he decided to teach to young talented ones. Only he and Gresini are working with that scope so far.
The track he built is located on the Emilia-Romagna hills, close to his town Tavullia. It remembers the classic american dirty flat tracks where even Sir Kenny Roberts learnt.
Inside there are 4 tracks, a whole lap is 2.5km long and it takes 2.10 seconds to complete (depending on the weather conditions).
Beaten sand has been used here and it's maintained wet by a special truck which keeps the surface slippery and insidious. Ideal place to make a "thicker skin", where to learn taming the powerfull Yamaha single cylinder engines. The Japanese company provides the vehicle to him for the training indeed.
Also, Yamaha will bring 5 young asian riders there to study the tricks of this job next year.
The motorcycles are Yamaha YZ450F equipped with dual purpose tires and dedicated rims and setup. The only real differences are the presence of the front brake, usual not used on flat track and the seat position.

Probably they must have because, I have to say, there is nothing flat on Tavullia hills.
They learn from The Doctor, and he does from them (he confesses), even if they don't realize it, because we remember it's never too late to learn.
